Although there are no official laws or legislation governing medical standards for a crane operator, most employers nowadays request a medical certificate of fitness to ensure that you are safe and fit to operate at heights with heavy machinery.
Our standard medical is carried out to a group 2 driving license standard and consists of a vision test, blood pressure check and a consultation about your health. However, a medical for crane operators can be tailored to the specific requirements of your employer. At the end of the medical, you will be issued with a signed, dated and verified medical certificate of fitness.
At Auto Medicals, we have a large team of expert doctors specifically trained to undertake all types of driver and occupational medicals.
A typical crane operator medical takes 20 minutes to complete and involves the following stages:
✔ Vision Check: Your doctor will ask you to read some letters on a chart to assess the strength of your vision. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, it is important that you bring these with you, along with your latest eye prescription.
✔ Blood Pressure Check: Your doctor will use a machine to check your blood pressure.
✔ Consultation: Your doctor will have a chat with you about your medical history and ask you about any health issues you may have, such as diabetes, epilepsy and more.
In addition to the above, we can tailor the medical to include extra checks according to the requirements of your employer. Please get in touch with us on 0113 543 4588 to discuss your needs.
Once the above steps are complete, your doctor will issue you with an official signed and dated medical certificate of fitness.
